Don't expect miracles from an inexpensive camera.Maybe I'm too cynical, but I really don't appreciate that the CD-ROM with the device driver wants me to install extra programs; in this case "Live Messenger" or "MSN Messenger Live" or something like that. In my computer corner, I added a flourescent light, because that corner is not well lit.
Webcams each have a built-in microphone, but we don't get good sound quality using the built-in mike. Bought six webcams in three twin-packs ("One for you, one for your friend").
We basicly use them for video phone calls on Skype. The camera needs to be about 18 - 30 inches away from your face, and the mike picks up too much background noise at that distance.
I strongly suggest that you invest in an inexpensive microphone that can be held much closer to your mouth, or even better, an inexpensive headset (headphones & mike combined).The camera itself is good for our purpose. Without adequate light, the webcam will not have much image to transmit over the Internet.
Please, I really don't need a program that is going to hijack my webcam off into the grasp of the Microsoft Empire.
great product got here incredibly fast way before the given date of arrival. package wasn't in that great of condition but didn't really care about that. Not missing anything and work great nice little camera to have or carry around.
I bought the double pack as a mothers day gift for my mom and my mother-in-law and they both have said that this is the greatest gift ever. This is especially good when they are talking to our two year old who is very animated and hard to understand over the phone. Neither one of them are very savvy on the computer and they were both able to get the camera set up easily. They both love the fact that we can go on skype for free and they can see and talk to their grandsons. Our boys also love the fact that they get to see their grand parents and show them things that they normally would have to try and describe to them. This is a great way to stay in touch with your family without running up a phone bill.
The two for one price was great, as many sources offer this this item singly for the same price. The lifeCam was easy to install. Have not any problems with it albiet. I've only had it for a month.
The pak arrived in three days with standard shipping. Set up was a snap and I had my wife's and my computer on Skype with video in about 20 mins. I liked them so much that I bought another pair for the office.
